Session I |
The 2018 cohort participated in the first of six sessions December 14-15, 2017 at The Bryant Conference Center on The University of Alabama campus with Dr. Marcia Burke leading the two-day session "Instruction for the School Leader".

Session IISession III |
Session II was held February 22-23, 2018 at the Bryant Conference Center, The University of Alabama campus, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Dr. Ed Nichols led Day 1 with his presentation of "Leading with the Brain in Mind". On day two, Dr. Frank Costanzo led a session on strategic planning followed by Dr. Andre Harrison, director AdvancEd Alabama.
Session III was "Finance for the Alabama Superintendent". The session was held May 30-31, 2018 at SSA office in Montgomery, Alabama. A variety of speakers representing key finance organizations in the state presented information at the two-day session. |
Session IV |
Session IV was "School Law for the Alabama Superintendent". The session was held June 21-22 at the Bryant Conference Center, The University of Alabama campus. Dr. Dave Dagley, professor emeritus, The University of Alabama, was the primary presenter.

Session V |
Session V will be held August 27-28, 2018 at the Bryant Conference Center, the University of Alabama. Day 1 will include a focus on school safety with threat assessment training provided by the Sigma group followed by a presentation by Mac Hardy, National Association of Resource Officers Director of Operations. Brenda Truelove, Program Manager, Bama at Work Corporate Engagement Team will share information about the Behavioral Risk Threat Assessment Program (BERTHA). Literacy leadership is the focus of day two. A mini conference featuring both practitioners and renowned national speakers will be held at The Bryant Conference Center. The conference is a collaborative project sponsored by The Superintendents' Academy, the UA Belser-Parton Literacy Center, the UA College of Education, and the UA College of Education Office of School Partnerships.

Session VI |
Session VI is the final session for the 2018 cohort. The session will be held at the Birmingham Museum of Art. Diversity will be a major focus of the session.
